Mechanism

Microneedling creates thousands of superficial micro-injuries that stimulate the skin to repair and produce collagen; at the same time, it delivers nutrients directly into the superficial dermis instead of through the stratum corneum — where topical creams have very limited absorption. The mixture is selected by the doctor according to the goals: non-crosslinked HA for hydration, vitamin C and tranexamic acid for brightening, peptides and growth factors for regeneration, and oil-controlling agents for acne-prone skin.

What Meso Can and Cannot Do?

Can do: improve skin hydration, brightness, and smoothness after a few sessions; support mild even skin tone; enhance skin texture post-acne at a superficial level; maintain results from other treatments. Cannot do: restore volume (requires fillers), lift skin (requires HIFU or threads), erase deep scars (requires laser, RF microneedling, TCA), treat skin diseases (requires medication). Meso is suitable for a 'foundation' role and maintenance.

Indications

Dull, dehydrated, lifeless skin; enlarged pores, mild oiliness; support after scar or pigmentation treatment when the skin is stable; early signs of aging at a mild level; regular maintenance. Individuals seeking significant results for wrinkles or volume need other methods.

Risks to Be Aware Of

Redness, mild swelling, injection spots for 1–3 days, small bruising, itching or irritation from ingredients (rare), temporary breakout in oily skin, infection if the technique is not sterile (rare), activation of herpes. Risks increase when using unverified mixtures or arbitrary blends — only use registered products for intradermal injection.

How is it performed?

Disinfection. The doctor introduces a nutrient mixture into the superficial dermis using multiple manual micro-needles or a multi-needle device with adjustable depth (0.5–1.5 mm depending on the area), evenly across the entire area, with a small amount at each point; a soothing mask is applied post-procedure. Duration: 30–45 minutes.

Before the procedure

Skin examination will be conducted, along with inquiries about allergy history, herpes, and medications. A thorough makeup removal is required. Topical anesthesia will be applied for 20–30 minutes. Please discontinue retinoids for three days prior to your appointment and avoid alcohol for 24 hours.

After the procedure

Do not wear makeup for 24 hours. Avoid harsh facial cleansers, sun exposure, steam baths, and swimming pools for 3 days. Redness and injection spots may take 1–3 days to fade. A follow-up appointment is recommended in 1–2 weeks. Maintenance should be done every 1–2 months based on your goals.

Small bruising may occur.
Irritation to ingredients is rare.
A temporary acne flare-up may happen in oily skin.
Reactivation of herpes is possible.
Infection may occur if not sterile, but this is rare.

Who should NOT have this?

Patients who are pregnant or breastfeeding should avoid this treatment.
Individuals with infections, severe inflammatory acne, or active eczema in the treatment area are not suitable candidates.
Those with allergies to ingredients in the formulation should refrain from using this product.
Patients with coagulation disorders or those currently on anticoagulant medication should not undergo this treatment.
It is important to have realistic expectations regarding filling, lifting, or deep scar removal procedures.
