How a Mini Facelift Differs from a Thread Lift — and How It Is Priced Differently

A mini facelift is a surgical procedure: a surgeon makes a short incision (typically concealed within the temporal hairline and in front of the ear), dissects and suspends the underlying tissue layers, and removes excess skin. It involves deeper intervention than a thread lift, requires 1–2 weeks of recovery, and delivers longer-lasting results. A thread lift simply inserts barbed threads under the skin for a mild lift, without any skin excision.

Because it is a surgical procedure, a mini facelift involves local or general anesthesia, dedicated operative time, and postoperative monitoring; therefore, it does not follow the per-area pricing ranges used for thread lifts. Due to the limited number of cases over the past 12 months, the clinic does not list a standard price range; the surgeon will provide a written quotation following your consultation, before you make any decision.

Doctors recommend a mini facelift when there is pronounced skin laxity in the cheeks, jawline, or neck that cannot be adequately corrected with a thread lift. For mild laxity, a thread lift is more affordable and more suitable.

Factors That Affect the Price

• Degree of sagging: more severe laxity requires more threads; if sagging is too extensive, a thread lift may not be sufficient, and the doctor will advise an alternative approach directly.
• Combination treatments with Botox, dermal fillers, or HIFU for optimal results: billed separately.

When a Thread Lift May Not Be the Most Cost-Effective Choice

Threads dissolve gradually over time (typically within one to two years depending on the thread material and individual physiology), meaning the results are temporary and repeat treatments are needed. In cases of significant sagging, the cumulative cost of multiple thread lift procedures can exceed that of a single mini facelift over the long term — your doctor will present an honest comparison rather than continuing to recommend thread lifts.
